Lauren drove from Orlando to Tampa to spend the weekend with her Dad and her brother Alex. We had a great time lounging on the beach and getting to spend time together! Alex is loving life as a single bachelor at Georgia Southern. He plans to graduate with a Construction Management degree in 2010! Dad & Sharon are doing well, enjoying the beautiful fall weather in Clearwater Beach, Florida. All is well on the homefront in Florida!

The great state of Florida!
If luck would have it, Brad & Lauren are both in Orlando, Florida during the month of September. BUT, not at the same time... can you believe it? This past week Lauren attended her national sales meeting with Johnson & Johnson at the Orange County Convention center. And, sure enough they will be passing each other via AIR when Brad flies to Orlando for his national sales meeting with Campbell's Soup! And, if luck would have it, we were not able to arrange our schedules to meet at Disney World. What a bummer! I guess Mr. Winston got lucky because he gets each of us seperate for a week, and no trip to the doggie kennel. Look for pictures to come from each of our trips!
UGA Football season begins!

Of course, we are just thrilled that the 2008 football season has officially begun! We are proud members of the Colorado Dawgs Alumni association and attended this year's SEC picnic with our good friends Bridgette and Brian. We had a ball and even Winston enjoyed himself. He makes friends quickly with people who are willing to play ball with him. We met lots of nice people and realized how very small this world is. There are so many Georgia natives that live in Colorado. Can't wait to see all of our new friends at Blake Street Tavern to watch this year's games! Goooo Dawgs!!!

Chick-fil-A

That is Lauren in the cow suit on the right. :) See Mom, college education at UGA taught me how to be a professional mascot! These pictures were taken at our IF week last month. Chick-fil-A Park Meadows was selected by the home office in Atlanta, Georgia to participate in a week-long marketing campaign. It was very successful!
As many of you all know, we are absolutely passionate about Chick-fil-A. Lauren interned at the home office during the summer of 2005 in the Public Relations department. This past April, for many reasons, we felt lead to apply to operate our own Chick-fil-A. This is a very long process, to say the least. This is not your typical franchise agreement that many are thinking. When you are given a Chick-fil-A, you are entering into an owner/operator agreement with Truett Cathy. It is a very unique business opportunity and we would be honored to be part of the Chick-fil-A family.
Since making our decision, we have been working one night a week in the Unit since January. Lauren works during her free time in the Marketing arena for the store. We have found a second family at our Chick-fil-A of Park Meadows and hope that we will be considered for a store in the future. We hope to stay in Colorado long-term and there is a lot of opportunity for Chick-fil-A here in the Denver market. We will keep you posted with more details. Please pray for us as we continue this process!

Ocean Isle Beach Trip for the Deaton Family Reunion
The Deaton Family 2008, and the cousins

We had an absolute blast on our trip to Myrtle Beach, SC to participate in the Deaton Family Reunion. It had been five years since the family had gotten together and there has been two additions to the family since our last reuion: Rachel and Brad!
We enjoyed lots of time on the beach, great dinners, and even a go-kart extravaganza on our last night. We celebrated Grandpa's 80th Birthday on Thursday with a slideshow and storytelling. Erin & Ty came for a visit at the begining of the week and stayed through Tuesday. It was great to see everyone! Looking forward to the next reunion!
2008 Election

It has been neat to follow politics as married, working Americans. We like to think of ourselves as old and wise, but we are working on just being knowledgeable first and foremost. It was neat to have the Democratic National Convention here in Denver. We rode our bikes down to the city on the night of Obama's speech and saw first-hand the chaos that goes into these conventions. We even got our picture taken while standing on Denver's busiest highway I-25 while it was completely closed. As history would have it, we won't see the DNC back for another 100 years.
